Apparent power

The apparent power of an electrical circuit AC, is the sum of the energy dissipated by the circuit at a certain time in the form of heat or work and the energy used for the formation of the electric and magnetic field components. This power is not actually consumed, except where the Power Factor is the unit (cosj = 1), It shows us that the power supply of a circuit must not only meet the energy consumed by the resistive elements, but must also be counted with which will “entertain” inductors and capacitors. It is designated by the letter S and is measured in volt-amperes (VA).
