Surface treatment on stainless steel, usually diluted with nitric acid, to remove particulate pollutants and promote, strengthen or even artificially create a passivating film that protects the metal surface. In the stainless steel, as a result of their chromium content, an oxide layer of a few angstroms thick, and thus naturally form is protected from many corrosive agents, finding wide use in industry and everyday life. Passivation treatment for the stainless steel objective is to artificially speed the formation of the passive film.
