Quantity expressing the relationship between a Output signal, with respect to the input signal. So for example, if the output power of an amplifier is 40 W (Watt) and input was 20 W, the gain would be 10 log (40 W / 20 W) = 3.0103 dB. The gain is measured in decibels.
