Intergranular corrosion

Este tipo de corrosión ataca generalmente a los inoxidables de la Series AISI 300, that is exposed to temperatures between 430 at 870 °C. Este problema se presenta en las proximidades de zonas soldadas en las que durante este Process el material alcanza estas temperaturas, chromium carbides formed in the boundaries of the crystals of Austen, impoverishing the zone of chromium and thereby these grain materials exposed to corrosion. One way to avoid intergranular corrosion of stainless steel is to use low-carbon (tipo L), and when the conditions are even more severe temperatures should be used stabilized stainless steels.
