Braking resistors facilitate the controlled deceleration of electrical DC drives. We distinguish between air and water-cooled variants. With offshore applications, seawater-resistant materials are used for the braking resistors, which guarantee a sufficiently long operating time in seawater. This means, e.g., that tubular heaters with a titanium external sheath can be used. Due to the use in a marine environment, when it comes to the adapter technology we pay special attention to the moisture-tight closure of the tubular heaters, so that fault-free operation is guaranteed. The operating DC voltage can be up to 1.200 V.
